Through some pretty amazing luck on my part, we are finally the proud owners of a Nintendo Wii and WiiFit and can I just say I LOVE IT!   We all do.  Fortunately for us, we have a GameStop store in town, and we’re in there every few days checking out all the cool stuff you can get for the Wii & Wii Fit.

One of the things I’ve been waiting for them to get new stock on is the silicone cover that goes on the Balance Board – but they have such a great selection of accessories for the Wii, as well as every single other game system you can think of, that we rarely walk out empty handed.

With the huge popularity of “active” gaming, this January, GameStop is offering a “Sharpen the Mind, Shape the Body.” initiative for the whole month that includes a special incentive to discover active gaming. So you can stop by a local store and demo a range of titles that match your interests and skill level.

As a special incentive, all shoppers who spend $35 or more on designated products will receive a free 12-month trial subscription to their choice of Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Redbook, Good Housekeeping or Esquire.

Now we parents can get in on the fun AND benefit from it!  I love seeing Jimmy & the kids up on their feet, playing games that get them moving.  Watching Libby bowl or box – too funny – and then there’s me – actually boxing, getting out of breath, and enjoying it LOL

Baby Einstein is 10!

There could have never been a more perfect “product review” for me and my family than when Mom Central asked for people to check out the 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD of Baby Mozart, as well as touch & feel Baby Einstein Touch & Feel Board Book ANDDDD Baby Einstein Classics  Lullaby cd.  My family LOVES the Baby Einstein.  We covet the  Baby Einstein. 

I only wish I knew about it 10 years ago!

We only really became true Baby Einstein fans last year after I had Zachary.  My sister had talked about the wonder that is Baby Einstein products after her 2nd son was born, but you know – whatever.

BE Baby Einstein products are incredible. Created by a mom for her baby daughters, the teacher-mom wanted to instill a love and appreciation for classical music, classic art and also provide fun, visually stimulating images for her daughters to enjoy.  Classical music, which has long been believed to help develop your baby’s brain, is a wonderful addition to your home. We have a Baby Einstein dvd or cd on in our house all the time.  The images are fun and FUNNY – the puppetry, the toys, the lights, the animals – all things to stimulate a baby’s mind and provide you with a constant source of teaching and sharing, even with small babies. 

Baby Einstein products encourage you to spend time with your children, not park them in front of the tv while you play canasta on the computer (not that I’d EVER do that ;) ). They also make the perfect Christmas or baby shower gift!  Zachary has fallen in love with his new book, and we both love the newest DVD, which actually helped us fall asleep last night!  My older kids love them as well!  Libby, Anthony & Zachary will sit and play with the dvd playing in the background, as well as sit and watch the DVD with him too!

This holiday season, take some time out to spend with Baby Einstein and your baby.  You’ll create lasting memories for you both, long after the wrapping paper and pretty lights are gone.

Seat Snug – a review

My baby girl (who is 5-1/2 years old and weighs all of 32 lbs.) just recently moved to a booster seat in the car, from a regular strapped in car seat.  The problem we’re finding with booster seats, particularly with our minivan, is that there’s nothing to keep it secured in the vehicle.  So the child in is top heavy, and therefore, gets tossed around when you’re going around corners or, heaven forbid, in an accident. 

Personally, the person who created minivan seats to be like ours are should be smacked. There’s no way for them to sit securely.  The creators of the Seat Snug understand that.

What’s the Solution?

The brand new SeatSnug® allows the lap belt to be lightly tightened around a child’s hips while riding in a vehicle, preventing seatbelt slack or looseness from developing.

As a side note, if you’ve been around the net long enough, you’ll be aware of the acronym RTFM.  I didn’t.

When I received my Seat Snug, I glanced at the instructions – figuring how hard can it be? Yeah – I’m that goofy.  So then I spent forever freezing my butt off trying to fix what I’d messed up LOL

Seat Snug understands that, too LOL  They even warn you beforehand – this is very difficult to remove – DO IT RIGHT!   They provide VIDEOS on their site to show you how to install it. 

SeatSnug-alt When I finally got it taken BACK off, I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, and had it installed in 5 minutes LOL  Now, when I put Libby’s seatbelt on, it stays tight across her lap.  She’s able to move forward freely, but she doesn’t rock back & forth when we turn corners. She is secure.  To me, that’s worth it’s weight in gold!
